8" x 10" acrylic on textured panel.
I did this one for the #artdare on IG, the prompt was change. That's actually in my front yard. When we moved to the neighborhood almost 30 years ago the streets were lined with beautiful mature ash trees. Ash borer is showing up, but most of them just went away from old age. We had two, one close to the street and one by the house. The city cut down the one closer to the street and replaced it with this maple. It's called an autumn blaze for obvious reasons, the leaves turn an amazing red in the fall. When it turns it starts from the top so that it looks like it's head is on fire.
Watch out for that purple pink bush in the foreground, it has the sharpest, nastiest thorns I've ever seen, they'll go right through leather gloves. Pretty but dangerous.
Apologies to my neighbors for removing their houses.
I painted on an ampersand primed canvas textured panel for the first time. I love the surface, it really grabs the paint, most of the the paint I used was mixed straight from the tube, no medium added at all, it really laid down smoothly and opaque.
