This one is painted from a photo that I took more than 15 years ago. This old wooden boat reminded me of some of the boats I cruised around in when I was a kid. My parents never owned lake property, but most summers we rented a cabin and I’m sure that I puttered around many a lake in an old wooden row boat with a 10 horse Evinrude.
One of the challenges I had painting this is to make the water at the bottom of the boat look like water. How did I do? Another was the ropes (lines if you want to be nautical). I think they came out a little stiff and thick, they don’t quite hang right. But my daughter Lucia says that adds to the charm of the painting.
